Stay in dialogue

We establish cooperations with universities and create a network between German and foreign institutes and promote international exchange.

The CLAAS Foundation initiates cooperations between German and foreign universities and provides financial support so that long-term cooperation projects can be implemented. The CLAAS Foundation is currently supporting 3 cooperations:

Wageningen University in the Netherlands and Göttingen University

A research cooperation to jointly work on new projects in an international, scientific network.

In 2025, a new University twinning cooperation between Wageningen University in the Netherlands and Göttingen University in Germany was set up. This partnership aims to foster innovation, research, and educational excellence in the fields of agricultural engineering and biosciences. The project partners of the participating universities are the Agricultural Biosystems Engineering Group (Prof. Dr. Ir. Peter Groot Koerkamp) in Wageningen and the Agricultural Engineering Group (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Beneke) in Göttingen.

The key objectives of this twinning cooperation are to promote joint research initiatives, to enhance educational opportunities, to foster innovation and technology transfer and to strengthen international networks.

Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and University of Lincoln / Nebraska (USA)

A research cooperation with the aim to work on new contents in an international, scientific network and at the same time to raise the interest of young people in agricultural science and technology topics.

The cooperation between Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and the University of Lincoln, which began in mid-2025, has the primary objective of establishing and promoting close research cooperation, with a particular focus on forward-looking topics such as autonomous mobile machines, sensor systems, knowledge-based systems and computer vision. This cooperation aims to generate innovative insights and technological developments that will advance both science and practice in the long term.

In addition, the aim is to draw students' interest and attention directly towards these research priorities so that young talent is motivated and actively involved in these research projects.

Another central aspect of the cooperation is the implementation of joint research activities in order to make optimal use of synergies, promote interdisciplinary exchange and thus drive forward the development of innovative solutions.

University of Bonn and China Agricultural University / China

A long-standing research cooperation that drives projects in the agricultural sector across continents.

The cooperation between the Institute of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Bonn and the China Agricultural University (CAU) in Beijing has existed for many years. The scientists focus on topics related to silage and research how, for example, the freshness of silage can be maintained for as long as possible after it has been opened.

A number of doctoral theses and more than 50 publications have been produced as part of the cooperation
