Sawmill Harsewinkel

Extracurricular place of learning

Since 2024, the CLAAS Foundation has been supporting projects at the sawmill, which inspires children for renewable energies.

Media meets STEM - renewable energies

How environmentally friendly energy is produced from cow manure? This is what an expert explains at the sawmill in Harsewinkel.

Kanal 21 and the Walter Blüchert Foundation worked with children on media education in the “MEDIA MEETS MINT” project. Six programs were produced by the children in early summer 2024. Content was planned in workshops at schools, and interview and camera training sessions were held. The children carried out the filming and edited the films together. The participants learned about old paper production techniques and hydropower at a sawmill.

Creative room

The sawmill establishes itself as a new extracurricular learning location for topics of renewable energies and agriculture.

The workshop gives pupils hands-on experience in renewable energies. Dr. Eberhard Nacke, a biogas expert, explains how biogas plants convert organic waste into sustainable energy, sparking students’ enthusiasm.

During the excursion, pupils experiment with different organic materials to understand their suitability for biogas production, learning about sustainable energy and environmental research in a playful way. The concept of this visit is an engaging, educational experience that inspires interest in renewable energy and environmental issues.

The kreativraum program, initiated by the Walter Blüchert Foundation, helps children recognize and develop their strengths, talents, and interests. Learn more about the Walter Blüchert Foundation and the Sawmill Harsewinkel.
